RAQ: How do you make time for YOURSELF?
I’m telling you right now that it is sooo important to RECHARGE! You have to just do it!
Here are some ways that I recharge and refresh without sacrificing precious moments with my family:
- Wake up a few minutes early. Catch up on emails, make a nice breakfast (if you find cooking therapeutic like I do!), read your Bible, make a to-do list, listen to music, or take a shower before anyone else is up and needy!
- Stay up just a few minutes late to do some of the things I mentioned instead if you’re more of a night owl.
- Pamper yourself with more luxurious items every once in a while. Instead of ALWAYS drinking the cheap coffee or using the cheap lotion, treat yourself to a luxury brand once in a while. You’re not altering your routine, you’re just altering the quality and the way it will make you feel!
- Plan playdates with moms with kids around the same age as yours. This serves 2 purposes: your kids get to hang out with their peers and *so do you*! Woohoo!
- Set small goals for yourself to do things for YOU! One of those goals for me has been the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge. This forces me to spend time reading (total ME Time). Maybe set a workout goal or a water-drinking goal, both of which will make you *feel* better too!
- Say “yes”! Do you have a neighbor that has offered to keep an eye on the kids so you could run errands? Has someone been asking you to come by to eat dinner with their family? Did the bagger at the grocery store offer to take your groceries to your car for you? Say Yes! Take people up on their offers every once in a while… you’re not in this alone and you DON’T have to be super woman!
- Plan an hour to yourself once a month or so! Go out with a friend just to talk, get a massage, get a pedicure, go for a walk, play music as loud as you want and dance like a mad woman! Whatever it is, do it!

Every Thursday I have a sitter come to take care of the kids/put them down for bed. I don’t care if I go sit at Starbucks for a few hours, it’s just nice to have alone time.

I usually get time for myself during the week when the boys go off on man-activities…cub scouts, basketball practice etc. My real me time is the hour I spend in the gym each evening during the week.
It’s an amazing re-charge…mentally & physically!

I always end up staying up really late to either have time to myself or with my husband. It’s worth it, even though I’m always tired in the morning!
