Top 5 Things to Kick Off Fathers Day Weekend #SeeSteelFirst

Well, Father’s Day is coming up super soon, and there are so many ways to get ready and make it memorable.  I thought it would be fun to come up with 5 ways to kick off Fathers Day weekend!  Look through the list and get some inspiration.

Top 5 Ways to Kick Off Father's Day #SeeSteelFirst

  1. Allow Dad the luxury of sleeping in.  Bonus points if you bring him breakfast in bed!  What dad wouldn’t appreciate the ability to sleep in without having to help out with the daily grind in the morning?  If your house is like mine, the morning is the busiest (and loudest) time of the day!  Give Dad a break for just one day.
  2. Wear clever t-shirts.  This year, I bought a cute one to wear since we will be out of town on Father’s Day and he will be helping a lot with the kids.  In the past, I’ve gotten some cute “Who’s Your Daddy?” shirts for the kids to wear.  The options are endless, and there are so many different ones available.  If you’re really crafty, you could always make your own!  I always love it when the kids are all coordinated with something cutesy.  If nothing else, that makes a great photo opp!   fathersdayweekend
  3. Take Dad to the movies!  There are several ways of doing this.  You could all go as a family, instate a date night, or let him go alone or with his own friends.  One movie he will not want to miss is the new Man of Steel movie, which comes out June 14, 2013!  You can see this movie at a special premier showing on June 13, 2013 at 7pm!!  Thanks to Walmart, you can purchase advance screening tickets while you’re already shopping there!  Just head to the electronics department of any Walmart store to buy your Man of Steel exclusive pre-screening tickets so you can see the movie before anyone else!  You also get an exclusive digital comic book written by David S. Goyer, the author of Man of Steel, in addition to an exclusive opportunity to pre-order an HD digital download or Blu-Ray copy of the film.  This deal is the first of its kind, so take advantage of it!!
  4. Let Dad choose the menu!  Let him plan at least one meal, whether he wants to grill his own BBQ, wants to go grab some sushi at a local joint, or has a favorite home cooked meal that he’d love for you to make.  For goodness sake, the man sacrifices for the family all year, so he deserves it!  I’m sure my husband will want to choose a restaurant with huge steaks, and I certainly can’t object to that. (YUM!)
  5. Make or buy some gifts for Dad.  Homemade gifts are always great, but there are some funny ones available for purchase if you’re not as hands on.  We chose to buy my husband a nice marble chess set as one of his gifts.  He had one a while back that was glass, but my kids (and I’m honestly not sure which one) lost some of the pieces.  He is always wanting to play games with them, so the kids and I chose that as one of his gifts this year.  Your gifts don’t have to be expensive! (In fact, you could buy the tickets for the Man of Steel screening and surprise him with the free digital comic book as a gift.  It’s a Twofer!)
