Building Good Character in Your Great Kids
Character building is one of the cool things about homeschool. We’re home (or out) all day together, so it’s up to me to make sure that my children are learning good values and how to become the most awesome version of themselves that they can possibly be! That’s where Happy Kids Songs comes in. As part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew, I’ve been asked to post about Happy Kids Songs, and I can’t wait to tell you more about what they have to offer!
The Schoolhouse Review Crew had the opportunity to review several products from Happy Kids Songs. This included the album downloads for Friends & Sharing (Set 1), Happiness & Attitude (Set 5), Manners & Character (Set 6), and the physical product Happy Kids Songs Workbook: Hands-on Activities to Build Character, Social & Emotional Skills.
I’ll break them down for you below so you can see what you’re missing out on (but not for long – I suspect you’ll want to grab a copy for yourself soon!). You can click on their links to hear samples of each of the songs on the albums.
Songs include:
Sailing on the Seven Cs – This song teaches kids the ingredients that go into having a good friendship.
Everybody Wants to Find a Friend – If you have a shy kid, this song may help! It helps kids and encourages them in finding and approaching new friends.
Sharing Friends – I wish I had this when I was a kid because I was terrible at sharing friends! This teaches kids that it’s okay to include other kids in their play with friends.
Happy as Happy Can Be – Children can listen to and enjoy hearing about having fun and being happy with a friend.
Together – In this song, children reminisce about spending time with friends and learn to deal with saying goodbye until nest time. Here is the Youtube video for “Together”:
Songs include:
Shake It Out and Dance – Do you have a kid that constantly complains that they just can’t? This song will help turn that into a CAN!
Who Knows What’s a Kudo? – This catchy tune is all about giving compliments.
I Don’t Understand – It can be difficult for kids to wade through situations when they don’t understand or are limited in what they can do. This song addresses it!
Be Good to Yourself – I have one kid that is a downer a lot of the time. This one is great for encouraging true happiness.
Better Together – This song talks about being apart and being together.
Songs include:
H-o-n-e-s-t-y – If you want your children to know that honesty is the best policy, this song will back you up!
The Magic Word – I love this, because it’s a great way to teach manners to littles.
Quirks – Everybody is different and has their own little quirks about them. Kids learn to accept differences.
The Golden Rule – Being considerate is so important. Teach your children about the golden rule and showing consideration toward others.
Six Little Kids – We all come from a different place and different perspectives. Kids can learn about honoring and respecting others, even if they feel differently or act differently than we would choose to.

Of course you are! These songs are a catchy way to help kids make good choices in a world where the right thing to do might not come that easily to them. Music is a great way to help things to stick with them. I’ve found this to be true for many subjects (How do you remember what year Columbus sailed the ocean blue? I can’t be the only one!) and my kids surprise me daily with what they remember based on simple songs!
Happy Kids Songs has produced 8 total music albums, each with 5 songs each, to help teach kids good character and boost their emotional and social skills in a fun way. They probably won’t even realize that they are learning these valuable lessons!
The albums are available via Amazon and on iTunes for $4.95 each. Songs are also available for .99 each if you would rather purchase individually. These have been made especially for kids aged 3-8, but kids of all ages will likely enjoy listening to these fun songs.
The Happy Kids Songs Workbook is also designed for kids 3-8, and the activities could likely be modified for slightly younger or older kids to enjoy. The workbook has a regular retail price of $13.95.
