Kids love technology. This holiday season, there is a new and fun way for kids aged 3-8 to play fun games and stay active at the same time!
LeapTV
We had a blast hosting a LeapTV MommyParty. Thanks to LeapFrog for sponsoring it and sending us a fun party kit, which included the LeapTV and games.
The LeapTV gaming system gets kids up and moving, but it also helps to teach and reinforce core skills. What do I mean? They get to practice reading, math, science, and problem solving based on their age and learning levels right in the middle of their games. That means that they get to learn and have fun all at once!
The system is perfectly designed for this age group. The interface is both intuitive and simple, and has games that use a motion-sensing camera to put the child directly in the game. Every aspect of the system is colorful, vibrant, and very exciting. The kids were thrilled to play and couldn’t wait to get their hands on the fun controller, too.
The LeapTV video game system provides access to LeapFrog’s Learning Library of over 100 game cartridges, videos, and game downloads. They’ve all been designed or approved by LeapFrog’s team of learning and gaming experts.
Three Unique Ways to Play
Body Motion – Kids star in their own game! The camera captures their movements, and children get to watch themselves as they play fun activities like karate or dance.
Pointer Play – Players use the controller to play. They use it with a simple twist to slice through coconuts, swing from building to building, and more.
Classic Control – Children use the A and B buttons to help them with gaming. They can also tilt or shake it to sled through a garden or drive to the finish line in a classic kart-racing game!

What We Thought About LeapTV
My kids all really enjoyed the system! My kids, from 2 1/2 to 9 had a blast. They liked the LeapTV Sports game the most, especially the bowling and karate mini games. They liked that they could challenge each other, up to 4 players, and worked hard to get the most points in the various challenges so they could be named the winner.
I loved that they were getting very physically active in the comfort of our living room. With the weather changing from SUPER hot to SUPER cold around here (and not many days of mild weather in between), it’s nice to have this gaming system to keep them busy and help them stay off of the couch! This is the kind of screen time that I appreciate most, because it isn’t mindless!
My favorite part was when the system asked my kids math problems as part of their challenges. How fun is THAT?! They were motivated to do it to move on in the game, and I got to watch them actually reinforce school concepts at their grade level. Twofer!
This would make a terrific Christmas or birthday gift for a family with young children, from preschool through early elementary. It is designed just for them, so it is easy to use and so much fun.
I received free products in order to host the LeapFrog sponsored MommyParty. The opinions expressed here are my own.
