When I am invited to a potluck or summer celebration, I usually panic a little inside trying to quickly scramble and figure out what I can take with me. I received some review samples from Tastefully Simple and it has reminded me how awesome it is to have some inexpensive ingredients on-hand for a terrific last minute summer potluck dip.
Sweet Dips from Tastefully Simple
For someone who has a crazy sweet tooth, Tastefully Simple has several options. Not only do they have decadent (or light, if you prefer) dessert options, but there are plenty of sweet dips. While there are many choices, I got to try out 2 that are absolutely perfect for summer.
I love to surprise folks by bringing a cheese ball to gatherings. They are unusual, but fun and tasty.
The first time I tried a Tastefully Simple cheese ball was about 10 years ago, and it has left a lasting impression on me. The flavor is seasonal and is the Lemonberry Cheese Ball Mix. All you do is add it to a block of cream cheese, chill, and shape into a ball. It is terrific served with some graham cracker sticks, pretzels, animal crackers, or even fresh fruit. The best part of this one is that there are 2 packets in the package, so there is enough to make two of them. I think I’ll start keeping a box or two on hand for last minute potluck invites.
Another phenomenal dessert-like sweet dip from Tastefully Simple is one I’ve never tried before. The Piña Colada Layered Dip Mix takes just a tiny bit more effort, but it’s so easy. Simple add the first envelope of the mix to a block of cream cheese, chill, and spread onto your serving platter. Then just top it with some drained crushed pineapple and top with the second envelope of the mix. Quick, easy, and addictive. This is also awesome with graham cracker sticks, pretzels, animal crackers, fresh fruit, or by the spoonful (not that I did that – ahem!).
Savory Dips from Tastefully Simple
Tastefully Simple sells a variety of savory dips, such as the Garden Salsa Cheese Ball Mix and the Jalapeno Popper Warm Dip Mix. However, I actually used 2 of their most popular seasonings to create fast dips that are great with tortilla chips or potato chips.
Most of the Tastefully Simple seasonings can be used to make dips just like this. They’re very versatile. In fact, these dips are even delicious as a topping for baked chicken or fish. Play around with them and you’ll see why they are so popular.
Making the dips are as easy as can be. For the Garlic Garlic Seasoning, I just added it some mayo and sour cream, mixed with a spoon, and refrigerated to let the flavors mingle.
For the Onion Onion Seasoning, I just added it to sour cream, mixed it together, and refrigerated. It’s best if you can do it overnight, but several hours will work.
I love that the seasonings work double duty. Not only can they be used in all sorts of recipes to add a little extra pizzazz, but they can be transformed into a simple summer potluck offering that will have people asking for your recipe! It’s a little embarrassing that it’s actually so easy.
