As much as we want our kids to have a complete and thorough education, even homeschoolers deal with holes in their kids’ knowledge and comprehension. For the past few weeks, I’ve been dabbling with an Individual Membership to Super Teacher Worksheets in exchange for this review.
Super Teacher Worksheets
For just $19.95 per year, parents can access tons of printable worksheets from this web-based subscription website. The files are in PDF format, so it’s easy for everyone to view and print whatever worksheets they need.
Based on the content there, the majority of the site would be useful for families or teachers with students from pre-k through 5th grade. There are worksheets for many different subjects and skills, such as reading comprehension, handwriting, science, geography, holidays, basic French and Spanish, fractions, art, social studies, and more.
Many of the worksheets are Common Core aligned. Before you scoff at this (as many homeschool moms do at the sound of Common Core), please know that this just means that it happens to cover a specific topic or standard as outlined by the Common Core guidelines for that particular grade level. It can still easily be used by families or schools that do not use these guidelines. That information is there there for the convenience of teachers and parents that need to be sure they are covering specific CC content.
Worksheet Generator
There are also worksheet generators for folks that have the content in mind already, but need a way to turn it into work for their student to complete. The worksheet generators could be used for creating good content for students of any age, so really the website could be useful for parents of students of any grade level.
There are tons of worksheet generators. The picture above shows the form to fill out to create a custom BINGO game. You can choose how many you want to print per page (1 or 2), how many students you have, and what to fill in on each of the spaces. It will randomize it for you and makes it so simple to create this game using the information and content that you want on there.
Other types of worksheet generators are: flashcards, word search maker, multiple choice, matching, word scrambler, math generators, and more. This section would be terrific for anyone looking to make tests or practice sheets on any subject.
Teacher Helpers
Teacher Helpers are also available. These include printable awards and certificates, a classroom newsletter generator (this would be fun for homeschool co-ops or clubs), lined paper print outs, and even some sticker charts. I like the variety here, and homeschool families could make use of many of these.
My File Cabinet
One feature that I really enjoyed using this website was “My File Cabinet”. This allows you to save any worksheets that you find on the site or that you create using their generator tools. This keeps them all in one safe place so you can’t forget where you saw it or even forget that you saw the perfect worksheet for a particular subject.
As you can see, I was able to find worksheets for math, history, and science. I had others, but as I used the ones that I had saved, I was able to easily delete them from the list. I did that so that it would be less cluttered. The 3 things you see under Action are View PDF, Preview, and Delete File. I like that it gives you the subject and topic along with the worksheet title so it’s easy to see exactly what it is, at a glance.
Super Teacher Worksheets Are a Great Value
You really can’t beat the price. For under $20 for a whole year, you have access to worksheets of all kinds. I was surprised at the variety.
We used many of the reading comprehension worksheets during language arts time in our homeschool because our current curriculum doesn’t cover this as much as I would like.
The math worksheets were also great when my kids got stuck on a concept in their math curriculum. Instead of getting annoyed, I just logged on to Super Teacher Worksheets and printed out a few practice pages for them to do. We do our math using a computer-based program, so they aren’t as used to writing out many math problems. This worksheet website helped them to try the skill in a different way, using pencil and paper, and it saved me from getting frustrated.
The worksheet generators and the file cabinet really sealed the deal as far as value goes. Even if there are no worksheets available on a subject I want to cover, I am able to make my own and save it for later.
I’m impressed with the variety and functionality of Super Teacher Worksheets and look forward to continuing to use it this year.
