German Holiday Fun at Texas Christkindl Market Arlington

The holidays are here, and I wanted to let you know about the Texas Christkindl Market being held in Arlington, Texas from now until December 23rd.  Our family was invited to check it out this weekend, and I know you’ll want to see what it’s all about, too.

The wonderful thing about attending this amazing Christmas event (besides that it is FREE!) is that you can immerse yourself and your family in German culture.   The food, the music, the dances, the beer, and so much more.

Check out the North Pole Texas Marionette Show, live concerts, and the dancers to all keep you in the holiday spirit.  Kids of all ages will love the Kinder market.  Check out the carousel, listen along during story telling, or let your little one embark on a pony ride adventure.

Is your Christmas incomplete without a little snow?  The Texas Christkindl Market has a Snow Playground for building an epic snowman (Cost: $8 for 25-minutes) and a Snow Throw ( $5 for 5 balls).

There are many vendors showing off their handiwork, and you’ll be able to purchase German goodies such as nutcrackers, cuckoo clocks, and beer steins to add a unique touch to your shopping list this holiday.

Food – did I mention FOOD?  There are so many tasty options there.  Buy your lunch or dinner on-site and take home some delicious German fare for later, too.   You can watch vendors prepare potato pancakes on the large open-air skillet or sip on the traditional German spiced wine called gluhwein.  Try funnel cakes and brats and strudel and roasted nuts and SO much more.  When I think of my German heritage, you can bet I’m daydreaming about all of the scrumptious food.

Oh, one more thing… don’t forget to check out Santa Haus!  Be sure to make sure you have time during your visit to see Saint Nicholas (Sankt Nikolaus or der Heilige Nikolaus), the patron saint of children, sailors, students, teachers and merchants. All are invited to visit with St. Nick and receive free candy. Note, though, that no personal cameras are allowed.  Photo packages may be purchased onsite starting at just $19.95.

It is an open air market, so be sure to dress accordingly.  There is a Warming Hut if things get crazy with the weather outdoors, and you can enjoy your treats and eats in there before heading back out to see what else is happening at the market.

Check out the calendar of events for the Texas Christkindl Market, held in Arlington, Texas.  You can check it out from now until December 23, 2015.  The hours are 12-9PM Sunday-Friday and 10AM-10PM on Saturdays.  It is located adjacent to Globe Life Park in Arlington at Road to Six Flags & Nolan Ryan Expressway.  There is FREE admission and free parking!
