Nintendo 2DS Price Drops to $79.99!

I don’t normally post about consoles or even sales, but I had to share this.  I got a press release today announcing that the Nintendo 2DS system is going to dropping in price to $79.99 as of May 20, 2016.  Right now, it retails for $99.99, so that’s a big price difference!  It will even come with Mario Kart 7 (affiliate link) pre-installed.

Nintendo 2DS Price Drop

We played around with the Nintendo 2DS a bit about the time it launched at a local event they had at a mall nearby, and my kids really enjoyed it.  I love that the Nintendo 2DS can play regular DS games or any of the 3DS games.  We already own three 3DS systems and a DSi Lite, so this would be able to play any of those games.  You can also connect to the internet on there and download games from the Nintendo store.

My kids have almost all of the Pokemon games for their DSes, like this Pokemon Rumble Blast (affiliate) game.  My oldest son is saving up money now, awaiting the release of the newest one, Pokemon Sun *affiliate* (or Pokemon Moon…he is hoping his little brother will buy whichever one he does NOT buy so we will own both!).  We also have tons of Mario, Luigi, Kirby, Zelda, Petz, and Animal Crossing games that would work on the Nintendo 2DS also.

As you can see, we’re a little bit of a Nintendo family here.  We’re pretty loyal and maybe a tad hardcore since Nintendo is what my husband and I grew up with, too.  Duck Hunt anyone? It made me think about this video. hahaha!

I’m highly considering buying at least one of these and picking up a protective case (affiliate) to help it last in the grubby hands of my little crew.  You just can’t beat the price.

What games do your kids love playing?  Will you be buying a Nintendo 2DS for your kiddos when the price drops?
