The Beginner’s Bible by Zonderkidz

I have several young children in my house, and we’re always excited to review new products just for them.  The Beginner’s Bible by Zonderkidz is the perfect way to introduce Bible stories to your littlest family members.

Ethan loves The Beginners Bible

My 2 year old son was so excited when he saw this Bible.  I had been getting lots of packages for Christmas and had been stashing them away to be opened when everyone went to bed.  He was surprised when I let him help me open it up.

On first impression, he was totally captivated by the colorful cover and cute little characters on the front.  He also loves animals, so seeing a lion got him all giddy.  He was so excited that he put his cars down to thumb through the book, which is saying a lot for my little car fanatic.

The Beginner's Bible - Timeless Children's Stories

The Beginner’s Bible is a hard cover Bible storybook with over 90 illustrated stories and adventures from the Bible, interpreted for the average 4-8 year old to be able to understand fully.  In fact, my 2 year old was pretty engaged with the stories when we all read them together.

The illustrations are fun and colorful in The Beginners Bible

There is a wide selection of stories from the Old Testament, as well as from the New Testament.  If there is a specific story you are looking for, you can check out where to find it by using the Contents page in the front.  The book is over 500 pages long and has a retail price of $16.99.

The Beginners Bible offers hundreds of pages of colorful stories

The illustrations for each story are 3-dimensional and take up about two-thirds of any given page.  Depending on the story, the pictures might be bigger or smaller, but that seems to be the average on there.  The text is simple to understand and gives children the general idea of what the corresponding Bible passage is trying to teach us.

My 4 and 7 year old sons enjoyed hearing what the stories had to say.  Charlie liked looking through and figuring out what was going on by the pictures.  Heath is a great reader, and he enjoyed being able to read the stories for himself and quickly found stories he had never heard before.  He had a good time learning new things from the Bible through some easy reading.

I like that each individual story has the corresponding Bible verses listed right below the titles.  This is another way to incorporate the whole family, as older children might want to go look it up in their actual Bibles to see the full story for themselves.

The back of the book has a small 3-page Dictionary section to help young children understand words that might be new to them, such as Commandment, Armor, Tabernacle, or Manna.  I thought this was a neat section to have, especially for the early elementary students that might be reading this on their own.

If you’ve been looking to update your Bible library in your home, be sure to check this one out.  Don’t forget to get on The Beginner’s Bible website for additional fun content, such as videos, online games, and printable activities to go along with the stories, found in the Kids section.  Look in the Parents & Teachers section for even more printables, such as bookmarks, iron-ons, reading suggestions, sticker sheets, and more.

The Beginner's Bible {Zonderkidz}
Our family has enjoyed using The Beginner’s Bible as a fun read aloud done all together, but it would be perfect for the beginning reader to use for their own personal reading as well.  Then, you could add in some of the activities from the website and could easily turn it into Bible lessons for your homeschool.  Doing this would make a very affordable option for Bible study for a family on a budget.
