Butterfly Snack Bags

This easy craft is perfect for back to school!  Simply use a clothespin to transform a snack or lunch item into a cute little butterfly snack bag.  You can totally keep it simple, or try the method below to make it even more colorful and special for your kiddo.

This would also be amazing for party favors, party snacks, baby shower goodies, sweets for teachers, and more.  Get creative and have fun with it.  You can use whatever colors you like, but I love the bright ones best!

Kids will also enjoy doing this craft with you.  Think about those class parties and teacher appreciation breakfasts.  Who wouldn’t LOVE receiving one of these sweet little butterflies, handmade with love?

You Will Need:

  • Ziploc Bags & Snacks

  • Clothespins

  • Pipe Cleaners

  • Paint & Paintbrushes

  • Glue (you can use a hot glue gun or regular white liquid school glue)

  • Scissors

  • Googly Eyes

  • Black Permanent Marker

Butterfly Snack Bags Getting Started

To Make:

  1. Lay down scrap paper and paint your clothespins on the front and sides. Allow them to dry, then turn them over to paint the back. Set aside and allow to dry completely.

  2. Use an unpainted clothespin and dip the end into paint and dab across the painted clothespins to decorate with different colors, or simply paint designs using a paintbrush.

  3. Bend the pipe cleaners in half and cut in half at the fold.

  4. Twist two different colors of pipe cleaners together.

  5. Curl the pipe cleaners in at one side to make an antenna.

  6. Glue the pipe cleaners inside the top of the clothespin.

  7. Glue on googly eyes and use a black permanent marker to add a smile.

  8. Fold a Ziploc bag back and forth like an accordion. Place Ziploc bag inside clothespin with the top zipper facing up.

  9. Gently open the top zipper and add your favorite snacks.
